GIS SUMMER PROGRAM
Summer Program 2017

BMCC is now offering a FREE summer program to fast-track new students into a GIS profession with a degree in Geographic Information Science (GIS). In this free program, students will take the first course in the GIS major and receive a math refresher course to help brush up on the math skills necessary to succeed in GIS or another STEM major.
​
This successful program ran for the first time in Summer 2016 and will run again in Summer 2017 starting June 29 - August 8. It will meet Monday to Wednesday from 9 am to 4 pm and Thursdays from 9 am to 5 pm. All classes will be held at BMCC
(199 Chambers St., New York, NY 10007).
Program Highlights
ï‚·Free Geography 101 course worth three credits

ï‚·Tutoring and Homework Field Trips (Thursdays only)

ï‚·Free Math 056 refresher course for STEM majors
​
ï‚· State-of-the-art Video Games to teach math and GIS skills
ï‚·Hands-on labs and activities featuring cutting-edge GIS software
​
ï‚·Free lunch, tutoring, field trips, and internship opportunities. Metro Card provided!
Eligibility Requirements:
​
ï‚· Must be accepted into a degree-bearing program at BMCC
​
ï‚· Must have passed the math placement test and be exempt from Math 008
(arithmetic) and Math 051 (basic algebra)
ï‚· Must be able to attend all sessions (missing more than 2 days for any reason will
result in removal from the program)
